Re-opened and Ready! The Rose & Crown
The Rose & Crown is back in business and ready to welcome you!
I recently attended the venue after being invited to a brunch event. What a fantastic job the team have done.
The pub has been completely refurbished. It is brighter and more modern but still has that 'cosy pub' vibe. Upon entering, one of the first things that I noticed is around the main bar area is a stand with fresh bread, pastries, gin, coffee and condiments. The smell of the bread immediately drew me in. I understand that you can now purchase these whilst in the pub. The bread is made fresh, the idea is that you order this before you sit down to eat to allow time for it to be baked and it will be given to you before you leave. A nice touch!
The seating areas in the main restaurant are placed really well. For larger groups of up to 6 there are booths that have been added with glass panelling so that they offer privacy but also allow the atmosphere of the venue in. Moving to the back of the building you have a garden room which is light and airy providing the perfect setting for our brunch. For the warmer months there is ample amounts of outdoor seating available at the front and back of the venue.
Once sat down we were presented with the new brunch menu. The options are a mixture of classics which I love. Upon browsing the menu I noticed a few things;
Firstly, the menu is well written. It clearly labels where vegan options are available, states that an allergen guide can be provided upon request, offers a choice of different milks to suit dietary requirements and brunch options if you are dining with little ones. This indicates to me the importance to ensure that every customer is catered for;
There is a great selection of teas and coffees. Something I have found hard to come by on a few occasions elsewhere; and
Lastly, you are encouraged to ask your server for any special requests or recommendations which shows that the team want to ensure that you have the best experience possible while you are dining with them.
I ordered the 'small' cooked breakfast and requested scrambled eggs together with a pot of English breakfast tea. The breakfast itself was a great size so you can be rest assured if you had the 'full' cooked breakfast you are going to get a very generous portion!
The breakfast was everything that I wanted it to be. Tasty, a great size and used high quality produce. A small detail but one that stood out to me was the butter was not freezing cold and rock hard. There is nothing worse than getting butter that is so cold and hard it is nearly impossible to spread it on your toast. Bravo chef...it is the little things that make the difference!
I was hoping to dig in to some pancakes after my breakfast but sadly was too full, just means I will have to go back another time...what a shame 😉
Brunch is served from 9 to 12 Monday - Saturday and 9 to 11.30 on Sunday. For those of you with four legged friends, dogs are welcomed during all trading hours and are allowed in the seated area by the bar.
I would like to thank the team for the invitation and also a big thank you to Andy who was extremely attentive and friendly when looking after us during our visit.
