Constant Returning Customer 😍
The White Hart in Sevenoaks has always been a favourite place of mine, especially for their roast dinner.
The venue itself is a large building with a lot of interesting history and is set in a gorgeous area. Inside the venue is inviting and airy with an added conservatory area to sit in. The garden is well maintained and pretty with an area for children to play and the venue is dog friendly.
What I love about this place is that they think of everything. Pre-Covid there were dog biscuits at the bar for customers pooches, board games and news papers. Due to Covid these have been put away for the time being and their strict covid safety measures have been put in place making you feel safe and at ease. You are asked to wait to be seated and to sanitise your hands on entry into the venue, there are sanitisers throughout the venue, a one way system, table service and no sitting at the bar is currently permitted, the tables are spaced out, only two people at a time are permitted in the bathrooms and a regular cleaning rota is in place, visors and masks are also worn by staff. Yet with all of these new rules coming in to play the staff and in particular, Tom the landlord, manages to keep the atmosphere light, friendly and inviting. You feel safe and looked after.
I have often visited this venue after a long country walk around Knole Park with family or friends. It is a short distance away and the perfect place to stop off, relax and refuel.
The White Hart offers a large menu and the food is always to a high standard. They are one of the few places that also have a large gluten free menu! Most places do not have much to offer in terms of gluten free but they have really nailed it with a variety of choices.
This particular Sunday I decided to have scallops with shredded ham hock and a pea puree to start. The scallops were large and tender, the shredded ham hock added a strong meaty taste and texture to the plate. The pea puree was light and creamy. For mains I had roast beef which is served pink (just how I like it) along with seasonal vegetables and for the first time, small white onions. My roast potatoes were crispy and the odd one was slightly tough on the outside but once you got into them they were fluffly and delicious. To finish I almost always have their ice cream, mainly as I'm usually too full for a full dessert but also I LOVE their ice cream. I had mint choc chip and honey comb, a little flap jack was included which I thought was a nice touch. The mint choc chip was refreshing and light, the honeycomb rich, creamy and the added crunch from the honeycomb chunks burst with sweetness.
Something else that they offer if you are a little too full for dessert is a 'small pudding with a hot drink'. A mini version of what is on the dessert menu together with tea or coffee. I love that they do this as I hate missing out on something sweet after my meal.
I can easily say that I have never been to this venue and left disappointed. I always leave with a full tummy and a big smile on my face with the full intention of returning again sometime soon! If you would like to check out the venue and their menus just click here.
