One of Kent's Best - The Dog at Wingham

The Dog has been named one of Kent's best and has won many awards such as runner up in the Kent Food & Drinks Awards, Best for Food at the Great British Pub Awards, an AA Rosette for culinary excellence and been placed in the Estrella Damn Top 50 Gastro Pubs to name a few. After my visit a few weeks ago it is clear why The Dog continues to make these achievements.

The venue has eight rooms available for guests to stay in. Given that the venue is in a lovely area which is both close to the coast and to Canterbury it is definitely worth considering for a staycation and of course your four legged friends are welcome! Currently there is a special offer on dinner, bed and breakfast from £99pp based on two guests sharing.

Every single detail has been taken into consideration at the venue. The décor is creative, fun, homely and cosy with open fires, comfortable blankets and playful art work.

The menu is based on modern British dishes which are made from locally sourced ingredients and changes seasonally.

During my visit I ordered the following:

Starter: Braised ox cheek, cauliflower puree, crispy shallot rings and chives

Mains: Venison fillet, sausage roll, chive mash potato, cavolo nero and blackberry

Dessert: Sticky toffee pudding with a caramelised biscuit and vanilla ice cream

The hype about the food is ALL true, you will not be disappointed. I cannot actually think of one point of constructive criticism. The Dog is a place that I would go back to in a heartbeat and would highly recommend.

I would like to thank the team and the Head Chef Samuel McClurkin for giving us an outstanding dining experience.
