The little pub with the fairy tale garden...
Updated: Sep 3, 2020
Date night for us is usually on a Friday. This particular night we headed over to The George and Dragon in Chipstead to kick start our weekend. This little pub smashed it out of the park. The food was full of flavours and presented beautifully.
To start we had garlic bread with balsamic vinegar and oil as well as the chicken parfait. The bread came with a whole roasted garlic for you to spread which I thought was a nice touch to what would normally be a 'standard' dish. The spiced orange chutney that came with the parfait was bursting with flavour and really added that little lift to the dish.
For my main meal I decided on the garlic butter poached chicken with chilli, almond and golden raisin couscous. All I can say is, DELICIOUS! It seems that the chefs are whisking up little pieces of magic in that kitchen.
The pub has a gorgeous vintage interior and is surprisingly spacious when you walk in. The tables have been moved indoors so that you are socially distanced. We however opted to sit outside in what can only be described as their fairy tale garden. As the evening went on the lights around the outdoor seating area really came into play to show off the space which brought a lovely atmosphere to the garden which is very hard to achieve during these times of uncertainty.
This pub is dog friendly so you can bring your furry friends with you and there is a space with a small park for young children.
On top of the wonderful meal the business is practising all covid safety measures. There are hand sanitisers all around the property for your use and the staff are all wearing face masks.
All in all, a wonderful venue and experience thanks to the waiting staff and the chefs for pulling out all the stops.
