Wonderland in Otford
Any Alice and Wonderland fans out there? Sally's beautiful cake emporium has brought a little piece of Wonderland to Otford in Kent. I love the amount of effort that has gone into the theme at Sally's, it is certainly one of a kind in the area.
As soon as you walk through the front door you are surrounded by flowers and everything pink! Your eyes are then immediately drawn to the large selection of delights on the counter such as homemade cakes, cookies, muffins, scones, tarts and biscuits. Every time I walk in I struggle to choose what I would like, I always want to try it all.
If you decide to sit in, the menu has plenty of options ranging from very healthy homemade granola with Greek style yogurt to a naughty stack of American pancakes with maple syrup. For later in the day their lunch menu has a lovely list of sandwiches available or if your feeling particularly hungry a cheese or fish platter.
On my next visit I plan on trying out their "Vintage Afternoon Tea" which I think is really well priced and includes a choice of sandwich from the menu made up with freshly baked bread, a slow roasted tomato mini quiche, a cheese scone and hand cooked chips followed by a home made scone with clotted cream and jam and a selection of mini cakes with unlimited tea of your choice**!
The staff are always pleased to see their customers and are incredibly friendly. I love visiting Sally's and I think it is the perfect place for a girly catch up or for some "mum and daughter time". If passing I'm only too happy to pop in and grab myself a take away treat as I am complete sucker for any of Sally's lovely baked creations.
I have recently seen on social media that Sally will be completing the "Technical Challenge" every week from "The British Bake Off" as it has returned to our screens. As if I needed any more excuses to pop in.....
